How We Work
OUR APPROACH

Change Begins With People.

ECAP believes that sustainable change is strongest when communities are not simply beneficiaries, but active participants in identifying challenges, shaping solutions and driving the change they want to see.

Our approach is grounded in rights, participation, inclusion, accountability and the belief that communities possess the strengths and resources needed to create lasting transformation.

Talk To ECAP

ECAP works alongside communities to strengthen their capacity, amplify their voices and support locally driven solutions. Through advocacy, education, sustainable livelihoods, climate action, human rights and inclusive development, ECAP seeks to address both the immediate needs of communities and the systems that contribute to poverty and exclusion.

Empowered Citizenry Against Poverty (ECAP) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization working with marginalized and excluded communities in Kenya. ECAP was established to promote dignity, equality, human rights and sustainable pathways out of poverty.

ECAP primarily works with marginalized and vulnerable communities, including women, people with disabilities, children, youth, older persons and people experiencing poverty or social exclusion.

ECAP works across education, sexual and reproductive health and rights, water and sanitation, economic empowerment, governance and accountability, gender justice, social inclusion, food systems, climate action and natural resource protection.

ECAP believes communities should be active participants in decisions that affect their lives. Its approach emphasizes community participation, capacity building, local leadership, evidence-based interventions and long-term sustainability.

ECAP implements programmes focused on climate action and resilience, women and people with disabilities empowerment and safety, ending FGM and SGBV against people with disabilities, inclusive development and economic empowerment of marginalized populations.

ECAP welcomes collaboration with organizations, institutions, government agencies, development partners, private-sector organizations and community groups whose goals align with its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.

You can support ECAP through partnerships, community engagement, technical expertise, advocacy, resource mobilization and other forms of collaboration that strengthen community-led development.

ECAP uses community participation, monitoring and evaluation, evidence-based interventions and accountability mechanisms to assess progress, learn from implementation and strengthen the effectiveness of its work.

ECAP is located at 1st Floor, Jubilee Plaza, Nyamira Town, next to Nyamira Medical Training College. You can also reach the organization through its official contact channels to discuss partnerships, programmes and community engagement.
